Extra Revision (Small)
Small revisions for a mix typically refer to minor adjustments that don't require a complete rework of the session. These are generally tweaks to enhance the balance, clarity, or feel of the mix. Examples include: {Volume Adjustments} -Turning up or down individual elements (e.g., vocals, drums, guitars, bass). -Balancing the levels of backing vocals or harmonies. {EQ Changes} -Minor adjustments to brighten or dull specific tracks (e.g., reducing harshness in a vocal). -Adding a little more low-end to the bass or kick. {Panning Adjustments} -Shifting instruments slightly left or right in the stereo field for better separation. {Effect Tweaks} -Adjusting reverb or delay levels (e.g., more reverb on vocals, less on snare). -Slightly altering modulation effects like chorus or flanger. {Automation Fixes} -Smoothing out volume automation curves. -Correcting a specific moment where an instrument or vocal is too loud or soft. {Timing Corrections} -Nudging a slightly off-beat track or sound to align better without significant editing. {Mute/Unmute Requests} -Muting or unmuting a single track or sound for a specific part of the song. {Master Bus Changes} -Slight changes to overall compression, limiting, or EQ applied on the master bus.

Extra Revision (Medium)
Medium revisions for a mix go beyond small tweaks but still fall short of requiring a complete remix. They often involve more involved adjustments or edits that require revisiting several elements of the mix. Examples include: {Significant EQ Adjustments} Making more pronounced tonal changes to individual tracks or buses (e.g., adding warmth to the overall mix or reducing muddiness). {Effect Reworking} Altering the sound design of an element, such as replacing reverb types or changing delay timing across multiple tracks. {Instrument Replacement} Swapping a synth patch, drum sample, or other instrument for a different one. {Layering or Editing Parts} Adding or muting multiple layers of sounds or instruments. Subtle re-editing of specific sections (e.g., tightening transitions between verses and choruses). {Automation Rework} Overhauling dynamic changes across a song, such as creating more dramatic vocal rides or intricate effects automation. {Stereo Field Rebalancing} Reworking the overall stereo image, adjusting the placement of multiple tracks for better separation or focus. {Master Bus Changes} Making significant adjustments to the master bus chain to change the overall mix character (e.g., dialing in a more aggressive compression or brighter EQ).

Extra Revision (Large)
Large revisions for a mix involve significant changes that approach or require reworking the mix from the ground up. These revisions often demand extensive time and effort, as they address core aspects of the mix. Examples include: {Rebalancing the Entire Mix} Reassessing and adjusting the levels of all tracks to achieve a different overall balance or feel. {Significant EQ and Tonal Overhaul} Dramatic changes to the tonal profile of the mix (e.g., making the mix warmer, brighter, or more aggressive across multiple tracks). {Major Effect Changes} Rebuilding the approach to reverb, delay, and other spatial effects across the entire mix. Adding new effects or replacing them entirely for creative or stylistic reasons. {Structural Changes} Editing the song’s structure (e.g., extending or shortening sections, rearranging verses, or adding/removing transitions). {Replacing or Adding Tracks} Incorporating new vocal or instrumental recordings. Replacing core sounds, such as drums, bass, or lead instruments. {Automation Rebuild} Creating entirely new automation passes for volume, panning, and effects to reflect a new vision for the mix. {Creative Direction Shift} Changing the overall style or energy of the mix to match a new artistic direction (e.g., shifting from a clean pop mix to a grittier rock or cinematic sound).
